Phew...I am just about done with Christmas parties! I have not really been to that many, but if I play another round of "White Elephant" or "Dirty Santa" or "Yankee Grab" (which ever you want to call it) I don't know what I'll do...
The Christmas parties started last Thursday at our apartment. A self-proclaimed "awkward" party because of the random groups of people that showed up that represent my roommates and my very different friends. In the end, it was okay...we did have a white elephant gift exchange...I received a very nice set of ceramic angels (pretty creepy actually). The people who showed up who I knew included all the folks I talk about all the time from work (Cason, Amy, Dan, Ashley, Leslie (and her husband Jonathan) and Karin). Amy walked away from the party with a nice figurine of an eagle. Courtney, my roommate was the proud giver of the eagle!
The next party was last night, and included my cohort, the cohort above mine, and all the faculty who teach in our program. It was at the Vice President for Student Life's house...very nice, and once again, it included Cason, Leslie, Jonathan, Ashley and some other folks from my cohort. That was pretty normal minus a few awkward comments made, but that's a whole other story.
Tonight, we had the Student Activities Office party at Scott Wade's house. Amy and I decided that we really needed to spice things up (since we were once again going to be seeing all the same folks) so we busted out some really nice Christmas vests. Mine was knit with a kitten playing with a ornament on one side, and a nice stocking stitched onto the other side. We were a pretty big deal, not gonna lie. However, in tonight's white elephant exchange...I managed to pick the gift that Amy gave...and once again...the figurine of the eagle has returned home. I put it in the freezer to try and scare my roommate!
