Rescue is Coming

I used to have a hard time sleeping. My solution, was to get up in the early hours of the morning, put some worship on, strap on my headphones, and dance around my room simply because noone was watching. It was a great outlet for me, and a great way for me to connect with God, silently dancing around my room with the words of worship pounding loud into my head.

I was at a church service tonight and the worship was good. I was standing in a big room with the lights dimmed and candles set on the stage, and the band was loud. So loud, that as I closed my eyes, it was as if I was back in my own room with my headset on, the words and the beat pounding into me, beating the same heartbeat of my soul. David Crowder sang the lyrics to his song Rescue is Coming:

"Don’t give up now
A break in the clouds
We could be found

There’s nothing wrong with me
It’s just that I believe things could get better
And there’s nothing wrong with love
I think it’s just enough to believe

Rescue is coming
Rescue is coming
Rescue is coming
Rescue is coming"

In that dark room those words seemed to hit me. To sing loudly, "Nothing is wrong with me...Rescue is coming, Rescue is coming, Rescue is coming" was like therapy. And the message in the service was so true. At the beginning of this advent season, rescue is coming. RESCUE IS COMING! This God, this Rescuer was born to a young, imperfect, mother in the midst of scandal and confusion. And this same Rescuer is born in me, Christ in me, the hope of glory!

Anticipate it, look for it this Christmas!

Rescue is coming!

Agreed. I like to do the same. I'm glad that you were able to connect with God there! I think we should all do the headphone thing more often (when roommates aren't around...or maybe when they are)! Nothing like singing your heart to God at the top of your lungs pretending no one else can hear! Oh, that we would live life like that...that our spirits would be constantly, boldly presenting ourselves before the Father crying out for His touch, proclaiming His goodness and faithfulness through circumstances and in spite of them!
