Bearathon 2006

When I was a freshman at Colorado State University, they had everyone make a list of 25 things they want to do before they die. Today, I gladly mark off one of the things from my lifetime "list".

My good friend Amy and I ran in the half-marathon sponsored by Baylor, coined the Bearathon. I am not even gonna try to be modest in this post, because I am stinkin' proud of us. 13.1 miles is a long way to run. Back in October, one of us had the brilliant idea to start training for today. At about 6am I was really questioning why we ever thought it was a good idea, but in the end I am glad we did it. And it is a great feeling to be working toward something for so long, and then actually complete it.

The race started at 8 and we finished it in 2 hours and 15 minutes...which was 15 minutes faster than we anticipated. Amy finished before me, probably by 2 minutes, and like I said before I am stinkin' proud of us! We had a good crew of people out to cheer for us. Leslie and Jonathan put on quite the show...using cones as bullhorns, Ashley had some fun signs made up for us, my sweet roommate Katy was at the 10 mile mark and the finish-line too, and Andy, Amy's boyfriend, was quite the trooper and spanned the course meeting us at a least 5 times throughout the race. And I think the experience must be okay when I am saying today that I would run another half marathon (as long as it's not in the next 6 months!)

We also made some fun t-shirts. I'll post a picture as soon as I get one from Amy's camera!

Anyway...just wanted to celebrate a bit! (Now, I am going to go hobble over to my bed and sleep for 14 hours or so!) Ha!

Hey Missy! I can´t remember if I ever came over to your blog to leave a comment or not but you had left one on mine awhile back. We have a mutual friend, Erica. Just wanted to come by and say it was a pleasure seeing your comment and that I´m in the process of getting in touch with your other friend Courtney that´s down here in Guatemala! Thanks for letting me know about her.. I´m looking forward to meeting her. I´m normally blocked from blogspot due to the school permissions for internet but you can come on over and leave me a note on my site.

way to go missy! I bet today hurt worse than Sunday did though :) At least that's how it went with my half. Just thought I'd let you know that your dad is probably the funniest post-op patient I've ever spent any time with! Not that you wouldn't have guessed. Praise God that everything turned out okay.
